Gelato & Dessert Lovers Everywhere,
We are Nonno's Gelato & Italian Ice, situated in our beloved neighborhood of Parkwood, NE Philadelphia, PA. We opened our doors in September, 2017, fulfilling our dream of providing a veteran family owned and operated, neighborhood gelato and dessert destination. In our brief time open, we have supported numerous local charity fundraisers including area schools, police and firefighter, private and veteran fundraisers. Annually, we also collect food and clothing and other necessities for families in need. We believe that supporting local communities and businesses makes communities a stronger, better place to live for everyone.
When the pandemic hit us in mid-March and we were asked to close as a non-essential business, and in the interest of public safety, we did so without hesitation. Like many other small businesses, we did not anticipate that the initial 2 week shutdown request would turn into months.
Optimistically, we pushed through and slowly began to re-open safely and following State and CDC guidelines. We hoped that summer revenue and SBA loan assistance under the HEROES Act would help us to bridge the gap to next season. But we have fallen short. After months and months of phone calls and emails, we have not received that assistance. We have incurred months of debt while we were waiting to reopen and now need assistance to get us through.
We need the help of our friends, family and neighbors so we can survive this pandemic and not become a statistic and have to close our doors. The funds will be used to pay overhead costs that were still incurred during the shutdown. With your support, we will continue to provide locally sourced, fresh made treats to neighbors, friends and family while continuing to positively serve our beloved community for years and generations to come. We will continue to fight.
