Help Support Aydan Hancin and the Hancin Family
Our Nocatee community is a little shaken up. In the past week, at least five boys have had flat tires on their e-bikes from dangerous spikes deliberately hidden in the grass. Sadly, one of those boys, Aydan Hancin, suffered much more than a flat tire.
On Wednesday, April 16th, Aydan—a very sweet 13-year-old boy with a crazy love for fishing and the outdoors—had an e-bike accident resulting in a severe break of his tibia at the ankle, directly affecting his growth plate. He was also unlucky to have landed right onto one of those barbs. The injury required complex emergency surgery. Due to complications from puncture wounds caused by the spike, found at the scene, Aydan also needs additional wound care, IV antibiotics, and a longer hospitalization.
This is only the beginning. Aydan will require another surgery in six months, followed by extensive rehabilitation. For a boy who loves fishing, riding bikes, and running around with friends, this injury has taken away his ability to do what he loves—for now.
Aydan's family is now facing mounting medical bills, and they are also juggling the emotional and physical toll of their son’s recovery. His mom, Irene Hancin, is known to so many of us in the Nocatee Crosswater community as the woman whose doors are always open, whose kitchen feeds a rotating cast of hungry boys, and whose heart is always available to anyone in need.
Now it’s our turn to show up for them.
We're raising funds to help the Hancin family cover:
Hospital and surgery expenses
Extended wound care and IV medications
Physical therapy and rehabilitation
Additional surgery in 6 months
Any needed equipment or modifications to help Aydan recover at home
Every dollar makes a difference. If you’ve ever been touched by this family’s kindness, or if you’re simply a neighbor who wants to make our community safer and stronger—please consider donating and sharing this campaign.
Let’s rally around Aydan and give this amazing family the support they deserve.
