Save Nittany Greyhounds Rescue Kennel!
Right now, our beloved
Nittany Greyhounds Rescue Kennel is being threatened, bullied and
harassed by a neighbor who wants us gone from the kennel property we
worked for six years to buy. He has threatened to shut us down, but so
far, nothing he says has been found to be true...nonetheless, our legal
bills pile up and up...we have to fight, we have no choice, and that
means lawyers.
Rescuing retired racing greyhounds is not just our mission, it's our
passion. Since 1997, Nittany Greyhounds has re-homed more than 2,000 of
these majestic, beautiful companions. In 2008, after years of fund
raising and with the help of an angel benefactor, we were able to
purchase a beautiful 20-acre property with an existing kennel. It's
small with only 10 spaces, but it is perfect for our use and not only do
we always have greys here, but we are able to supplement our income by
boarding other breeds for dozens of dog lovers who live close by. The
boarding pays the rent--it's as simple as that, and our boarding friends
absolutely love the small, intimate atmosphere of our all-volunteer
kennel. We do this because we love greyhounds and without the boarding
buddies, we could not stay open.
Our very existence is being threatened by someone who cares nothing for
us or what we're doing--he only cares about himself. He has expressed
that he will keep us in court until we can no longer afford to pay the
lawyers and we'll have to close down. It's cruel, vindictive, and just
mean. His motivation is unknown, particularly since none of his
accusations are true and everything that he has tried against us has
failed because he has no basis for any of his complaints. The DEP, the
dog warden, and the township have all ruled in our favor, and yet he
continues with his ridiculous legal actions against us. In fact, we have
been told that "sometimes the guy with the most money wins." We can't
let that happen. Our greyhound adoption efforts are too important to
allow a bully to shut us down.
Without
your help, we have no hope of paying the thousands of dollars worth of
legal bills that have been incurred fighting this guy. As a citizen, he
has every right to sue us every month if he wants to; we must fight for
our greyhound home! Please, lets help the "guy" with the least money win
for a change! Our non-profit is just that and we must depend on private
donations for our legal defense fund. Remember, 100% of your donation is tax deductible, as we are an official 501c(3) and registered with the State as a charitable organization.
