Nika Willow Kasten

Donation protected
My dear friends lost their daughter, Nika Willow, unexpectedly on October 17, 2023. She would have turned 4 next month. There are no words to express this loss.

So many loving friends and family have asked how to support the family in this difficult time. The family would like to emphasize that donations are not necessary, but should friends and family choose a monetary donation as a means to show support, Nika’s family will donate the proceeds to pediatric cancer research.

Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of love toward this precious family. Below are some words to describe Nika, from her family:

“Nika Willow burned brightly in her short time on earth. Her sweet charm, endless charisma, and beautifully dimpled smile endeared her to everyone she met. She was wise beyond her years, and her unabated generosity was something to behold.

Nika brought joy into every room she entered. She made sure those around her were having a great time, and if they weren't, she would do something to lighten the mood. She loved dancing, singing, and performing, and playing with her best friend and big brother, Caleb. She loved swimming, and especially doing cannonballs in Grandma and Grandpa's pool. She was quick to laugh (with her deep, hearty Nika laugh) and quick to make those around her smile and laugh. She loved riding her bicycle and her scooter, playing cards, as well as going to the park with family and friends. She would kiss our boo-boos and give us hugs when we weren't feeling well, and she promised to take care of us when we "got old."

Nika was absolutely beloved by everyone who knew her. She was the youngest of my parents' 18 grandchildren, and the heart of our family gatherings. Nika was the last to arrive in that generation, and will be the first to greet us all on the other side.

We are so grateful for all the joy she brought to us in her too-short time on earth. We give thanks that her suffering was minimal compared to what she'd go through to treat - but maybe never cure - her hidden cancer. She lived fully until the end. We praise God for this kindness, and rejoice that God is always good, no matter the circumstances. We know that Nika is safe and being her joyful, laughing self in heaven with God and those who went before her. ”
