Sometimes in life you want to pull out all the stops to help someone and this is my time.
I'm Sue a 67 year young "Adoptive" Mum of Cody.
3 years ago I had luck to become involved via Balto Dog Rescue with Cody, a volunteer like me.
Sadly Cody after being unwell for some time was diagnosed with a brain condition and needed emergency surgery.
Her prognosis was likely terminal and blind by age of 30! Surgery has so far been successful and we hope for a long life as she has a 5 Yr old autistic son.
Surgery followed surgery BUT her Consultant was worried about her weight and after talking with a surgeon in Turkey he agreed gastric surgery was the way to go.
Cody is now 16 STONE DOWN!!! An unbelievable achievement as gastric surgery still needs YOU to WORK at it otherwise it won't work.
HOWEVER that weightloss also leaves excess skin - about 2 stone of it across her whole body!
Skin removal is not available on NHS - losing large amounts of weight leaves folds where open lesions can, and definitely do, start and once started they are there forever. They aren't just unsightly but very painful and smelly and can get infected easily.
I am so proud of this girl and her achievements that I am asking, no begging, for help - her surgeon has even reduced his price so he hopes we have an achievable goal.
If you would like more information or photos please ask - I am more than happy to help.
