New Eden Retreat - New Social Business Venture

Hello, my name is Chantal, and I'm the founder and CEO of New Eden Retreat Limited. Together with my husband, we decided to drastically change our lives, and in the process, we hope to change the lives of others, too. We are selling our lovely home and moving to beautiful Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, where we are purchasing a large acreage (100+) to build our dream, New Eden Retreat.

New Eden Retreat is a place for folks to get away from the stress and isolation of today's society. A natural space to reconnect with oneself, nature, and a like-minded community. Accessible vacation rentals, including camping, glamping, and cabins, will be available for individuals and families (including pets). Health and wellness amenities will be available on site: fitness and yoga space, hiking trails, massage, canoes and kayaks, and workshops on fitness and healthy eating. Spa-like amenities such as hot tubs, outdoor showers, ice baths, and saunas will provide guests with lots of options to relax and recover. New Eden Retreat will have a lodge with indoor and outdoor event space to host weddings, retreats, workshops, and other events, along with a commercial grade kitchen for food service. Local experiences will be offered such as fishing, foraging, and kayaking, to name a few.

Food and housing insecurity, along with the rising costs of living, are taking a toll on our families and communities. New Eden Retreat is our way of helping, through demonstrating a different way of living and sharing knowledge and resources. By building a business and community using sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. Solar arrays will offset power costs, environmentally friendly and sustainable building practices will be used along with water management and other sustainable techniques.

Food will be grown and raised on site, using cruelty-free and permaculture techniques. Communal gardens and an orchard will be available for guests to enjoy, which will also provide fresh fruits and vegetables. The founders love to cook and will host regular dining events.

New Eden Retreat will also be home to a land lease community, providing affordable land lease options to employees and successful applicants. Members of the community will have access to New Eden Retreat infrastructure. Spaces for RV's, tiny and otherwise mobile homes, and other more custom options will be available.

New Eden Retreat will create jobs in a traditionally under-served area, partner with community groups, donate food to those in need, and provide mentorship and internship opportunities.

We are a registered corporation and are now in the process of establishing funding. While we will be injecting our own equity, we could really use your help bringing this dream to life. Every donation goes towards establishing the infrastructure we need to turn this dream into a reality. I'm more than happy to share our business plan and discuss this new adventure further.
