New air conditioning - heater unit

Hello my dear friends, fans and family - "Don't it always seem to go
that you don't know what you got 'til it's gone?" That familiar Joni Mitchell lyric doesn't ring more true than now. On July 3rd, 2023, in the midst of the onslaught of a brutal southern summer, my 11 year old A/C-heater unit was busy cranking away to keep my house liveable. When it came time for me to hit the hay, as it were, I noticed that the unit wasn't cooling to the temperature that I'd set it to. Never a good sign. I'd been here before. Most recently, just this April, when a run capacitor in the unit failed, and it stopped cooling. Of course, THEN, it was cooler weather. Back to the present. By Independence Day (July 4th, for all you non-United Statesians), my cooler wasn't cooling at all. Which wasn't cool. At all! We'd entered the much-dreaded Dog Days of Summer -- sweltering heat and dripping humidity. I realized I needed to do something. I signed up online for a service call with my A/C servicer. They couldn't come out until the following day, the 5th. When they inspected the unit, there was absolutely no coolant in the unit, and the compressor had locked up. My options were: to try to fix the unit (which could run as much as 3 or 4,000 bucks -- and then, because of its 11 year age, something else could go wrong in the near future, which would be even more money), or to install a brand new unit. Well, thinking long term, I figured it would make more sense just to go with a brand new unit. So, here we are. I tried numerous times to get financing for a cost of $11,595, but was denied every time. Even with a cosigner. Humbling as it is, a GoFundMe page seems to be my only option for raising the funds to get me back in my house. I stayed last night in a motel, but will be staying with a very dear friend until my house is habitable again. By the grace of God and my generous, loving friends, fans and family, I've already received about $3,850. A payment of $9850 is the total amount I need . Which leaves $6,000 as my target goal. I will be contributing what I can, as well. I want to be cool again. May God richly bless each and every one of you. Much love, Jerry
