My name is Christopher Calderone. I am a Fourth Grade teacher in South Brunswick, NJ.
On April 26th, 2015, I will run the New Jersey Marathon (26.2 miles) in honor of a very special little girl named Shaonna. Shaonna was born with a disability that makes it difficult to walk on her own. Shaonna is a very determined person, who knows what it means to persevere.
April 26th will also be my 36th birthday. Instead of receiving a gift, I’d like to give a gift to Shaonna. All donations collected through this initiative will be given to Shaonna to assist with medical bills and physical therapy.
On my challenging training runs when I start to doubt myself and feel myself wanting to quit, I think of Shaonna and the courage she shows daily. Shaonna is an inspiration to me, others in her school, and her South Brunswick community.
