CONTRIBUTIONS NEEDED FROM LOVING SUPPORTERS OF DANN SISTERS’ HORSES
Please help us feed and care for these beautiful historic horses until they find their forever homes.
Northeastern Nevada Equine Rescue (NNER) was able to save 219 young Dann Sisters’ horses from slaughter through the generous donations of many of you who wanted to give these young horses a chance at life. Sixty of these horses are already scheduled to go to their forever homes, but because many of them contracted strangles at the kill lot they have remained in quarantine since their arrival near the end of January. During this time, the rescue incurred unforeseen costs due to this extended time of needed care. Currently our financial reserves are extremely low due to the purchase of feed (100 tons so far), additional panels needed to isolate horses, and to hire addition help at the rescue. All horses are now ready to receive health certificates per our veterinarians and the Nevada Department of Agriculture State Veterinarian.
This disease took its toll on the horses and NNER. Yes, we lost fifteen horses to Strangles. Those that died had compromised immune systems due to being torn from their mothers, stress from the round-up and separation from their herd. Ending up at the kill lot and exposure to unhealthy conditions there ended their lives tragically.
PLEASE, we need your help. If each one of you who “likes” our page were to donate $20.00 (or more), we would be able to take care of these horses for the next four months. That would give us the resources to find and transport these beautiful souls to their forever homes. If you share and others donate, we could have a healthy reserve to continue our efforts to save the lives of other beautiful horses who are destined to be killed.
