Veteran Don Ellis had his truck stolen, totalled
Donation protected
Cedar Rapids Veteran Don Ellis was in the U.S. Navy for five years and served on board an aircraft carrier during that time. He also spent a year in the National Guard.
Thursday was Veteran's Day, and Don woke up with intentions to go to Hy-Vee to enjoy their free breakfast for all vets on Veteran's Day when he made the discovery. His 2020 Dodge Ram decked out with a license plate that reads “Merica,” a decal of the American flag across the back window, and the hood honoring Navy Veterans was missing.
Don has a security camera and at 2:50 a.m., it spotted a thief taking off with his truck. The truck was then found Thursday night and had been driven off a 6-foot embankment near Prairie Park Fishery and left abandoned. Dons truck is a total loss.
“It’s just frustrating that someone would do this,” Ellis said. “I spent so much time and money on that truck for someone to steal it in the blink of an eye.”
Let’s come together for a Veteran and help Don create that same memorable truck again!
