Fundraiser for Nabih's Cancer Fight
Nabih has recently been accepted to receive a bone marrow transplant on 01/11/2013, because he is in remission for Leukemia. He will have to live locally in the Palo Alto area for 100 days after transplant and have a caregiver 24 hours a day for the 100 days. The housing costs are expensive and so are the costs for a caregiver. The problem we are running into is that Helmieh (his wife) works and cannot afford to take off because her income pays the bills for the residence where they live. Nabih's disabled and his check pays the rent at the house. It is estimated to cost nearly $35,000.00 for this transplant. To hire a caregiver, it will cost about $10.00/hr. That equates out to $24,000.00. The other $11,000.00 covers housing and medical bills. If we can alternate between family caregivers, the cost will go down, but they are in need of money to pay bills and rent because of missed work.
I recently lost two good friends to Leukemia. My friend and neighbor lost his fight in April of 2012 to Leukemia and his nine year old daughter will not have her father for this Christmas or any other significant events in her life. My friend and fellow police officer, where I work, recently lost his fight with Leukemia. His children will not have their "daddy" for all the special events in their life. I do not want to see this happen with my children and their Seedee. His 21 year old daughter will be graduating from college soon and he deserves to see her get her diploma and eventually walk her down the aisle to give her away at her wedding like he did for my wife. I could go on, but I am getting choked up writing this. In short, Nabih needs your help in any way possible. Please help us help Nabih fight this nasty cancer.
