NAAMGENOOT: A Short Film Fundraiser

Ambigram Pictures is proud to announce the pre-production of our newest short film!
Naamgenoot (Dutch for “namesake”) is a drama about the importance of writing the script of your own life on your own terms. Nick Pelphrey and his father Hank have traveled from Minnesota to upstate New York to help pack up the home of Nick’s great uncle, Nicolaas “Niek” Broekhuysen. Uncle Niek, a retired professor and world-famous author, is ailing and must move out of his beloved home. Still stinging from the death of his longtime partner, the mercurial Niek resists losing the last piece of his past.
All the while, Nick—who gave up on his dreams to write just like his namesake great uncle—reconnects with Niek while struggling to figure out who he is and what he wants in life.
Naamgenoot, which is partially inspired by a true story, is produced by Ambigram Pictures’ Molly N. Price and Luke Langfeldt, with a screenplay by co-producer Chris Tarbox. This intimate, intergenerational story, directed by Langfeldt, is a celebration of family and never compromising one’s dreams.
In order to bring this story to life and to its maximum potential, we will need to raise funds for cast, crew, equipment rental, sound and editing, production design, costuming, music, marketing, and festival entry fees. Any funds that exceed our goal will be used to further compensate our amazing team and production needs. The film will be shot in Spring 2024.
