In 2018, we started out with the urgent need to empower young Nigerians to do more for themselves and their communities by providing them with educational opportunities. Education is said,to be the bedrock of development hence, any society that wants to attain greatness must embrace education.
Our first scholarship in 2019 received over 400 applications. These applications enabled us to get insights into the inspiring dreams and visions that many of our young people have for Nigeria. Despite the lack of support and numerous financial challenges many of them face daily, their persistence and determination is deeply inspiring.
We read about Ojo, who grew up in an environment where houses were sinking into the ground and who is currently working towards the goal of getting a doctorate degree in structural engineering so that he can practice and teach more Nigerians how to adopt appropriate foundation types . We read about Lydia who organizes free lectures for kids in her neighborhood and who plans to utilize her International study and diplomacy degree to create a good image for Nigeria and its citizens.
Just like Ojo and Lydia, we know of many students who seek financial support as they strive towards their dreams of impacting their communities. We also know that while getting an education is important, certifications also helps give recognition of competency, shows commitment to a profession, and helps with job advancement. As a result, this $2,000 scholarship fund aims to provide 10 students with a full year academic tuition, as well as an additional 10 students with certification sponsorships in areas of their interest.
