In loving memory of Myung-hak Sung
Don protégé
Myung was a mentor, teacher, colleague, renown travel demand expert, friend, and the kind of soul that touched and impacted many others along his journeys. He had a “can do anything” attitude and provided much wisdom to those that worked with him and knew him. Myung is survived by his two sons and their lovely wives – Peter & Stephanie and Matthew & Hazuki, as well as a large extended family. He was preceded in life by the passing of his wife Posoon after sharing over 40 years of marriage.
In 1971, Myung came to the United States from South Korea with just a suitcase and $200 to attend grad school at Pennsylvania State University to pursue a Masters and PhD in Civil Engineering. Life took a different course when Myung began working for Gannett Fleming in 1974. His tenure with the company lasted over 40 years, achieving many accomplishments over more than 4 decades working in Pennsylvania and Florida.
Myung enjoyed the simpler things in life in his later years, walking outdoors, enjoying nature and bird watching, traveling, reading and writing poetry, and he was known as the family photographer and historian. In his retirement, Myung made numerous trips to Seoul and New York City to laugh, eat, and love life with his family and friends.
