MUSIC PROGRAM FOR BARCELONA ALTA, QUINDIO-COLOMBIA

Hola!

My name is Basil Henning. I am an educator and I had the pleasure of living and working in Quindio, Colombia for many years. In 2016 I began working with Fundacion Futuro con Futuro (https://futuroconfuturo.org/), a foundation that provides positive opportunities, programs, and educational experiences to the rural community of Barcelona Alta, Quindio. One of the foundation's most enduring and successful programs has been the music program. We are raising funds to keep the program going. We are lucky to have a phenomenal and experienced music teacher in Saul Sanchez, who travels to the community each week to teach and rehearse with dedicated students. The group consists of mostly percussionists that perform regional rythyms and meaningful cultural songs. We are so proud of the students! Some of the more experienced groups are now traveling to other schools to perform as well as performing for the community! This fundraiser is to provide a base salary for the music teacher, instrument repair and replacement costs, and travel costs for performances.
