Hello my name is Francis Giles and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story.

Monday 25th November 2024, my wife Nicola was on her way to the local shop on a ‘normal’ day when she suffered a heart attack. I resuscitated her in the street and then ambulance got her swiftly to Basingstoke hospital. Unfortunately whilst trying to unblock arteries she suffered a stroke and it took 40 mins for the medics to get her heart working again. Nicola’s life changed and has spent a total of 14 weeks in both ICU on life support and then moved to special care. There is huge hope as she has now been transferred to The Nuffield Hospital in Oxford to receive Cardiac rehabilitation, it is an intense, individualised exercise, education and support programme.

Any money donated will be used to enable me to commute from Basingstoke to Oxford by train on a daily basis and occasional B&B stay overs. That day our lives changed dramatically but we cannot be separated as I want to be there for her. I want to help her rehabilitate enough to be able to come home. The house will need adaptions but that’s a year away. Yes it’s going to take 6 months to a year to get her functioning again. We’ve been told that some issues might not come back such as speech or her left vision.
