Moms Cancer Fund for medical expenses

To say that 2021 has been a slap in the face is an understatement. Back in January of this year , our mother faced a medical emergency and immediate surgery which unfortunately turned out to be Colon Cancer . As most of you know this is the same diagnosis my father passed away from in 1993 .

Since January we took the diagnosis with stride , looked into treatment options and moved forward . We sailed through the first round of chemo pretty well . We dealt with the side effects and change of life issues that comes along with receiving chemo and rang our victory bell when round one was completed . To our dismay and shock on the follow up Cat Scan the cancer has advanced . As the fighter we all know our mother to be , we went back to the oncologist for more treatment options . After receiving the second round as a more powerful blast of chemo to help slow the progress of cancer , the side effects as well as the advanced progress of the disease became very severe in turn caused a very rapid decline in our mothers overall health and activity of daily living .

We have been dealing with rapid weight loss , chronic nausea , severe intractable pain , dehydration, and more issues to personal to mention here .

With the rapid decline , this has forced me to take a medical leave from my Nursing job to be moms home care giver . Mom has UPMC Medicare but it simply isn’t covering enough of the course of treatment for her needs . The co-pays for the oncologist and cardiologist are outrageous as well as the numerous emergency room visits and more frequent office visits for interim iv fluids for dehydration . Frequent pharmaceutical med changes for moms comfort has been costly as well . As long as she wants to continue fighting , we will do everything in our power to meet her needs but at this time a little bit of help is needed.

We understand the holidays are approaching as well as the financial constraints Covid has placed on all of us this year so even prayers are appreciated.
