September 18th Eddie Walton suffered from pulmonary adema where his lungs filled with fluid. He was air lifted to New Hanover medical center and on September 25th an attempt was made to perform two by passes and replace his aortic valve. One of these bypasses was sucsessful.
After a consult with Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem it was determined that a new procedure called a TAVI was the best option to correct the valve.
On December 10th he went into a procedure that was to be less invasive, with a three day dishcharge date. Due to complications during the procedure, he suffered 3-4 strokes, pneumonia and was on a ventilator for 12 days.
With all that his will to live prevailed. He came home Jan 8th while still requiring 24 hour care and outpatient theraphy . His gains were phenominal, but not qithout lots of hard work on his part.
On Feb. 15th he experianced pulmonary adema, once again being air lifted to New Hanover. At this point he is scheduled to be transported to Baptist Hospital when the weather permits. It is unsure if transport will be by air or ambulance.
As you can imagine this turn of events has taken a toll on both Eddie and his family.
Medicines, travel expenses and missed work have all played a part. This family is still in for a long road ahead. If you feel it in your heart to donate any ammount to offset these expences, please feel free but do not in any way feel obligated to donate. There are MUCH more expenses but these funds as of now are to help with immediate needs, travel and lodging costs. Loss of work and any other immediate needs.
*Update* As of today, Jan 18th Eddie has been air lifted to Baptist Hospital and a surgical team is awaiting his arival.
Please keep the Walton family in your prayers.
