David Belman here with Belman Homes.

Our dear friend and painting contractor for over 40 years is fighting a battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Originally diagnosed 7 years ago, Mike Trease continued to work painting homes while battling cancer.

Recently after many rounds of chemotherapy he exhausted all his options for treatment. He just recently left the workforce and but he and his family are faced with tons of medical bills from the gruling treatments and procedures.

Any ordinary person would have quit working years ago, but not Mike. Mike continued to work and battle for years. He has painted over 1000 of our homes and was one of our most liked and reliable trades we have ever had.

Mukwonago area resident and life-long Packers, Brewers, Bucks and outdoor enthusiast, loved by many, Mike Trease, was diagnosed with colorectal Cancer in August of 2016 at the age of 47. While it was originally believed to have been caught in early stage, the first surgery to remove the cancer proved otherwise. Thus began the 8-month Ostomy and chemo journey he remains on today.

By November the next year cancer had metastasized to the liver, which resulted in a resection. Lungs soon followed that resulted in a couple rounds of radiation. Through his battle, he never stopped proudly working on the many homes his hands have beautfied in so many of the surrounding subdivisions. He likely qualified for disability years earlier and could have quit working anytime, but he kept working through the pain and dreadful side effects in an amazing fashion, always saying “I can work, so I will.”

This spring, Mike’s nearly 7 year battle has become increasing challenging as working chemo options exhaust and cancer is more aggressive, returning to his liver, lungs and newly, his bones. Physically, he can no longer work or maintain any resemblance of any sort of required schedule given the more frequent medical treatments, procedures, pain, recovery time and/or appointments.

Please consider giving to Mike Trease to help him and his family with the mounting medical bills.

If you cannot attend our in person celebration on May 20th at the Lions Club in Genesee Wi please make a contribution here.

UPDATE: Thanks to all your efforts we hit our initial goal our 2nd goal and close to reaching our third one! Let’s continue to help support Mike as he has many more medical bills and expenses. He his speechless right now from the outpouring of support!

Mike was featured on CBS Sunday Morning Channel 58 on May 14th, 2023.
