Mike Ford Fund

Greetings and welcome to all! Whether you are here because you know Mike Ford and the details of his accident well or because you want to care for those in need, we appreciate you. I'm Bekah Ford, second born of the four Ford children. With my parents blessing and input, I have organized this fundraiser to help with the present and future expenses associated with my dad's recovery. The goal here is to grant him a better quality of life after so much has been taken from him as well as my mom. This accident is going to have life-long effects on my parents and so this fund is meant to financially support my parents as they navigate the effects of the accident throughout my dad's life. Thank you in advance for considering a way to help and bless my dad.

My dad, Mike Ford, was riding his motorcycle home from work on August 13th when an under-insured, intoxicated driver crossed the double yellow lines and hit him head on. He was taken from the scene of the accident to Lehigh Valley Hospital where he stayed for over a month. He underwent several surgeries, endured multiple complications, and completed residential therapy. His injuries were severe (broken pelvis, internal bleeding, broken hip, severely dislocated toe with nerve damage) and the medical professionals predict a long and challenging recovery still ahead. The Ford Family remains grateful that he is alive, but humbled by the road ahead.

As Dad transitions to recovery at home he will be in a wheelchair and receive home health care and therapy for some months to come. The hope is that in November he will be cleared to bear weight on his legs/pelvis and can begin the long process of getting his body back to normal activity. Realistically, recovery may last for his lifetime. And he may never return to his previous high level of physical ability.

My parents are supported by an incredible community and are blessed with good health insurance. Their community has quickly mobilized to provide meals, transportation, lawn-mowing, ramp-building, and other immediate help as my dad moves to a new phase of recovery. However, there will be numerous financial costs associated with what could be a life-long recovery for my dad, even beyond what assorted insurances will provide. If you would like to help, consider making a donation to assist financially with my Dad's recovery.

Your donations may help to cover the following:
- potential loss of income for Dad
- loss of income for Mom (due to taking days off to visit/care for Dad)
- copays, fees, and other out-of-pockets costs
- out-of-network providers that Dad may choose throughout his recovery
- visits in excess of annual limits on physical and psychological therapy coverage
- costs associated with change of life plans
- travel costs (so that my siblings and I can see our dad)
- other unforeseen expenses that will come during my dad's healing process

Your generosity wraps the Ford family in love and is a very practical help in our time of need.
