Michael's 100k Run 2015
Donación protegida

My Name is Michael Spenceley; I am running again in this year's Thames Path Challenge 100k Run, Ahhhhhh (hehehe) This year I'll make it!
Last year I did the run and got to 77K and had to drop out, It was one of the hardest and most emotional things I have ever done.
But this is the best way to raise money and I guess pain is always a good way to bribe you good people to support me raising money for amazing charities hehehe, so I'll do it.
I'm raising money for an amazing company called "Limitless " founded by Lysanne van Overbeek. It is a production company which makes theatre in order to rasie money for charities specifically linked to Parkinson's Disease. Lysanne founded the company in 2014,
This year, the money raised will go to "The Cure Parkinson's Trust ".
The Cure Parkinson’s Trust excels in identifying research needed in Parkinson’s and has a flexible approach to grant awards that avoids the delays and bureaucracy that impede progress.
They have become the Michael J Fox Foundation of the UK and the concentration on truly translational research that addresses patient expectations in Parkinson’s is a refreshing approach in the search for a cure.
Lysanne started Limitless, because her mother got diagnosed with Parkinson's disease five years ago and their lives changed. The initial symptoms were mistaken for stress. It wasn't until later she realized it could be something more. Once the doctors recognized that is was Parkinson’s, she had already progressed a lot. Five years later, she still isn't stable and it will only get worse.
Parkinson’s changes people, inside and out. It is like being imprisoned by your own body; a constant struggle to get your body to listen to you; knowing that it will only get worse; not having any control.
The disease is caused by a lack of nerve cells in the brain, which stops a chemical called dopamine being made. Some of the more well-known symptoms are tremors, slowness of movement and stiffness. But many people don’t know that Parkinson's patients also suffer from anxiety, depression, memory problems, constant pain, fatigue, communication problems, etcetera.
We do not understand Parkinson’s disease and there is no cure. Seeing her mother struggling every day, hurts. Limitless exists to help raise awareness and get money together for research.
One in every 500 people has Parkinson’s.
Every pound brings us one step closer to understanding this disease and maybe even finding a cure.
Let's fight this together!
