Michael & Leslie Craver/Flash Flood Repair
Donación protegida
Michael and Leslie Craver's home was tragically caught in a flash flood in the early morning hours of December 2nd in Albany, GA. There was a terrible storm that night with heavy rain and the holding pond in their neighborhood overflowed causing the drainage system to be overpowered therefore causing all the water to run to the lowest part of the neighborhood. This included their home. From the time they realized water was coming in to the time it was waist deep was a period of about 30 minutes. Because the water came in from the sides of the home and not the roof, insurance is unable to cover any of the damage costs. This was not declared a Federal disaster, so FEMA cannot help and the Albany United Way has no funds to help because of all the damage from Hurricane Michael. The city public works have also been contacted and there is nothing they can do as well. They have been able to dry out and salvage some furniture, but their mattresses, couches, some appliances, rugs, carpet have all been ruined. They have had to remove sheet rock about halfway and are attempting to dry all the studs to prevent mildew and mold. This includes all the sheet rock behind the cabinetry in bathrooms and kitchen. It does look like they will be able to save cabinetry through the drying process. Obviously, this is a large out of pocket expense right around Christmas. Our friend's are not the type of people to ask for help, but rather to give it. However, we know that there are people that love them as much as we do and, given the chance, would be more than willing to do something to help. To get sheet rock repaired, replace carpet, paint, appliances, mattresses, and furniture will most likely cost more than the goal set, but to at least help in some way would be a blessing. This was the easiest way we could think of to coordinate a way for friend's and family to pitch in to help. Any amount would be so generous and most appreciated. Thanks for helping!
