Leon's Surgery
Don protégé
Hello this GoFundMe page is created by Leon’s sister: Annette Brand.
My brother, Leon, was in a motorbike accident in October of 2018. It happened at a large intersection in Johannesburg, South Africa, while on his way to church a Sunday morning.
His left leg was badly injured, with a femur ‘splinter’ – break very high up. He received surgery with the insertion of a pin attached to the knee area, running up into the femur bone. An average of only 75% contact was achieved with this operation.
He was advised to approach the Road Accident Fund for further help and funding of surgery and medical recovery treatments. But within a short period thereafter, this Fund became bankrupt.
He hasn’t been able to place any weight on the leg and unable to drive, resulting in an inability to work.
His current condition is a deterioration of the above, accompanied with excruciating pain, swelling of the knee (possible inflammation) and total loss of muscle mass in leg.
He is in desperate need of further surgery and medical treatment, which obviously requires funds.
I recently had a very vivid dream of helping my brother, and I feel strongly moved to reach out to everyone, in love, who could be of great and significant help in his situation.
I feel that he has been there for so many, and a blessing to so many throughout his life, and still is. And that is why I am inspired to give back and bless him with medical help.
As administrator of the fund, I am registering my mother, Rosalie S Kleynhans, as the beneficiary to manage the US bank account for donations, as we do not have a GoFundMe in South Africa. Our parents have been living in the USA since the year 2000.
My goal is to urgently raise enough funds for the surgery process as well as the recovery process, which would include physiotherapy. I, we, appreciate anything you can contribute, and will be sure to update you as to Leon’s progress.
Thank you very much and bless you all.
