Metropolis IL Action Comics 1 Mural Fundraiser

Hello,

My name is Morgan Siebert. I am a local Metropolis, Illinois, business owner and artist. My father Jim Hambrick is the founder of the Super Museum, and I now run the museum with my family. I've wanted to do this project for about 10 years. I wanted to bring back a mural that my father had funded and helped install on a building on Ferry Street coming up from the Casino. Sadly the building that it was on was hit by a tornado back in 2003.

The Action Comics mural was installed in 1995 and lasted untill 2003. I want to redo the mural on Market Street just down the road from the Super Museum and the Giant Superman Statue. The goal of the mural addition would be to bring a new attraction to beautify our downtown for photo ops and to help bring foot traffic to other businesses in our shopping district. Our community needs more themed attractions for Superman fans to enjoy when they come to the one and only "Home of Superman". This mural could bridge walking traffic between the Superman and Noel Neill statues. I’ve spoken to both owners of Super City Antiques, and they would love to have this mural as an addition to their building, but funding the project has been difficult. I am reaching out to the gofundme community to cover paint supplies and materials to install the mural. This is a unique project for me because it was one of the first things my dad did to help promote our community. We've been sad to have lost the original mural, and I feel bringing it back would improve the atmosphere of our downtown and the overall visitor experience. If we raise more funding than is necessary, I would like to help fund more possible mural projects in the future. My dream is to kickstart the first of many murals all over town that inspire and uplift people who live here and visit. The below picture is the original Action comics mural from 1995. Please consider helping me start this vision for a more beautiful and colorful Metropolis!

**Update** Due to us not raising funding fast enough for this project we will be going forward with another mural project on this location and we plan to move THIS mural to another location. We will keep you guys updated.
