4000 KM IN ONE WEEK

Athlone Athletics Club is a group of running enthusiasts based in County Westmeath, Ireland. We train from our base at Technological University of the Shannon Midlands (formerly Athlone Institute of Technology). Our club has large number of members of varying abilities and we continuously encourage new members to join.

From the 2nd-9th April 2022 we are hoping to collectively cover a distance of 4000 km to raise funds for The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust & Athlone Athletics Club.

The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating the bodies of loved ones who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland. In January 2020 Eela and James Carr, two longstanding members of the Club were the beneficiaries of these services following the tragic passing of their son and brother, John Carr. Athlone Athletics Club is proud to have the opportunity to raise funds for such a service.
