A Beautiful and Brilliant Mind with a Caring Heart
When remembering Jacques or “Chad” there are universal traits that those who knew him well inevitably recall. The traits that shine through in the stories told are how brilliant, kind-hearted, and private he was.
What made Chad especially endearing is that as brilliant as he was, he was also very engaging and truly cherished the human element in connecting with others. Most importantly, Chad had a kind heart that showed through his actions, which was especially apparent with his love and patience for animals and children.
Chad’s untimely passing has been a tragic shock to those who loved him. His beautiful and brilliant mind was also his greatest battle. The isolation and extended lock-downs from the pandemic severely limited the amount of human connection he had, and this very sadly resulted in a cascading effect with his own mental health battle.
Chad believed in helping those in need, and during his time at MIT, he became very involved with the Big Brothers organization. He mentored a young man named Michael (pictured below), and truly prioritized the commitment he made to mentoring him. In many ways, I believe Chad felt as though he learned and grew as much from being Michael’s mentor, as Michael learned from him. Given Chad’s love for the Big Brother’s Organization and the belief in how much it helps the underprivileged youth it serves, I believe that donations made in Chad’s memory to the Big Brother’s Branch in Boston, that are earmarked for mental health programs provided by the organization, will be a beautiful tribute to Chad’s memory and legacy.
