On Friday May 7th, 2021 we lost our mother, wife, friend and the rock of our family Bernadette (Bernie) Anderson to Covid-19. When thinking of ways we could best honour her memory, my father told us that she always loved going for walks in the city parks around Kamloops. Whenever she would get tired she would sit on one of the park benches. He said she always took the time to read the name on the memorial plaque. She always like to spare a moment and a thought to think of the person whose name was on the plaque. This was our mother in a nutshell, always thinking of others.
There is no better way to honour our mother's memory than by providing others with a comfortable place to rest. We would like to purchase a memorial park bench through the city's official memorial bench program. We are already in touch with the people in charge and are just waiting to hear back from the city parks department. One bench with a plaque costs $2,800. We've set our goal at 50% of the cost. Any donations exceeding that amount will be donated to RIH Foundation's Covid-19 Response at Royal Inland Hospital as a thanks to the wonderful staff who gave our mother every chance to survive.
