Memorial Fundraiser for Sarina "e$$ie" Vito Cruz
Spende geschützt
At only 20 years old, Sarina unexpectedly passed away. On February 4th, Marjorie set out to leave the apartment she shared with Sarina, her youngest daughter, to help with the preparations for her brother’s funeral services the next day. When she went to Sarina’s room to let her know she was leaving like she always does, she found Sarina unresponsive and called 911. The paramedics who arrived did everything they could to help her survive, but she unfortunately passed away at home. Sarina had plans to go skate with her friends that night and so many other things in her life to look forward to. She was also preparing to support my mom at the funeral of my mom’s older brother who had just passed away after a two year battle with cancer. Some of her organs were donated so that they could help the lives of others.
Nothing could have prepared my already grieving family for the unexpected loss of our baby sister. Sarina was so loved by our mom who often called her “my mini me” for how much her stunning looks reminded everyone of my mom in her youth. She had a great relationship with our dad, Nestor, and talked on the phone with him almost every day. Whenever Kira, our middle sister, brought her four year old son, Zen, over to visit his Lola, he always knocked on Sarina’s bedroom door and asked for his auntie. Our mom's partner, Arbel, always helped with her car troubles and loved Sarina like his own daughter. Despite being my little sister, I looked up to her in so many ways. She lived her life unapologetically herself and showed incredible talent in everything artistic including drawing, painting, fiber arts, rapping, makeup, nails, and hair. She always impressed me with the quality of her friendships with so many people for so many years. She was an icon amongst her friends, many of them referring to her as e$$ie, and all of them grieving the loss of a friend they wanted to keep for a lifetime.
Losing Sarina so suddenly and so early in her beautiful life has left our family and her friends heartbroken beyond belief. We are unfortunately struggling to find the funds needed to cover the cost of a proper memorial for her as the cost is very high and the circumstances were so unexpected. Based on estimates from the funeral home, we need to raise at least $30K to cover the cost of the memorial and burial. Sarina touched the lives of so many people and we desperately want to be able to give her the memorial she deserves, honor her legacy with everyone who loved her, and be able to say our goodbyes.
Our family would greatly appreciate any amount you can contribute. If you can’t donate please help us by sharing this GoFundMe and Sarina’s story with your friends and family through social media. We will update this page with her obituary and the details of her memorial service, which will include a live stream for those who cannot attend in person. If you have pictures or memories of Sarina that you would like to share with our family which may be included in the service, you can send them to Marjorie, Kira, or me.
