Memorial and Services for Orlando Ilas

Donation protected

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Orlando Ilas - a doting grandfather, a gentle patriarch, and the most loving husband.

Orlando grew up in a big family in the Philippines with three brothers, Dante, Robert, and Willie; and three sisters, Yolanda, Evelyn, and Nellie. He met his wife Olivia when he was just 17 years old and it was true love from the start - they married soon after. With love and marriage come the babies - and they welcomed their first daughter, Lovelyn, and afterwards their son, Daryl. Wanting only the best for their family, Orlando and Olivia made the decision to come to America and settled in Whittier where along came their baby girl, Charmaine. There was nothing that he loved more and was more proud of than his family.

Orlando was a jack of all trades and always maintained a curious mind. He was masterful with his hands and could troubleshoot and fix anything around the house - whether it was a washing machine, a computer, or even some furniture. Even plants bowed down to his green thumbs as there was nothing he could not grow.

He was a man of few words, but as we all know actions speak much louder - always 100% service. If something needed to be done or a task undertaken, he did it with never a complaint and always the biggest smile. He was always there for his family with any request - large or small. Whether it was driving his kids to school, helping fix their cars, taking care of his darling granddaughter Radiance, he did it all.

His ever-encompassing love also extended past his family. As a devout Catholic, he was an active member of the El Shaddai prayer group. He and Olivia were a big part of the church community and found their callings as servants of God.

Ultimately, though, his language of love was through food. We all know the saying that the stomach is the way to the heart, and Orlando filled it to the brim. He shared with all who walked in through his doors and even beyond that to the community.

It was a sudden event that disrupted the lives of his loved ones. However, we are well aware of the tremendous impact this man had on the lives of everybody around him. Whether you have come to this page to help alleviate expenses, to offer a prayer, to share a story of a truly special man - we thank you from the bottom of our stomachs.

Orlando is survived by his brothers and sisters, wife Olivia and his children Lovelyn, Daryl, and Charmaine.
