Meet Megan Houst
AKA theredheaded_yogi
AKA Colorectal Cancer Fighter

Megan’s family would like to introduce their wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, niece, aunt, and friend to you. Megan is a 35 year-old Accounting Manager living in Annapolis, Maryland with her husband Patrick and their goldendoodle Lucy. She has an affinity for yoga, Peloton, Broadway, the beach, travel, a good book, giraffes and elephants, and especially family. In July 2022, at 33, after a belated honeymoon to Greece, Megan wasn’t feeling quite right and attributed it to the different foods she had eaten and perhaps an infection. However, after a visit to the emergency room, Megan and Patrick were blindsided with a diagnosis of Stage IV Metastatic Colon Cancer. What started as a tumor in her sigmoid colon, had spread to her ovaries and liver and required the fast track to six months of chemotherapy. Megan has since had a medical procedure, additional chemo, a new treatment last summer-fall, radiation, and was recently a patient in a clinical trial which unfortunately was not successful.
Through it all, Megan has of course had her ups and downs, but has had a wonderful support system consisting of Patrick, family, friends, social workers, therapists, palliative care, local Annapolis oncologists and nurses, and a team of oncologists and nurses at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. Up until this past winter, Megan has experienced some wonderful things on her “Things to Look Forward to List.” She has been determined to keep as positive an attitude as possible while facing some uncomfortable and downright painful courses of treatment.
As Megan and Patrick navigate their life experiences and challenges resulting from her cancer diagnosis, they have been the recipients of cards with well wishes, flowers, dining gift cards, comfy clothing, robes, blankets, puzzles, candles, inspirational gifts, event tickets, Peloton rides, trips, and much more. They are fortunate to have flexible employers and good health benefits. However, now the tide has turned. While Megan still loves the well wishes and cards, her needs are different. There are now things that Megan requires to keep her comfortable and safe while she continues her battle, and bills are arising that are not covered by insurance. So many have inquired as to how they can help Patrick and Megan at this point in time. This is how the idea of the Go Fund Me came about. The donations received will be put into a bank account to be used for bills, home medical supplies, in-home care, and any other medical needs that arise.
All contributions are greatly appreciated. If you are unable to contribute, we welcome sharing Megan’s journey with family and friends as well.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you,

Patrick Houst and Family
