Medical & Rx Cost for Herb

Hi - I'm Sharie Walerstein, owner of Adirondack Zen Reiki & Wellness, and Herb's friend. Herb was recently diagnosed with serious DVTs (blood clots) in his femoral artery and the veins of his lower leg resulting in pain and swelling - and a lot of out of pocket costs! Herb has had multiple imaging done so far, and there's more to be done. He was put on a very expensive non-generic blood thinner and then changed to daily shots and frequent liver function tests. There's still specialists to see (2 so far but maybe more) and possibly surgery, depending on the results of all the testing. His current medical bills are already close to $5,000 and are expected to run close to $4,000 out of pocket costs per month between the ongoing deductibles and prescription costs. Herb's doctors have basically recommended as much bed rest as possible so he's not able to work at 100% or run his podcast studio (4th Floor!) His doctors have advised that it's possible he could be incapacitated for months, or longer depending on the final diagnosis and treatment plan.

Herb and his Earplug Podcast Network have always been generous and active in the community including substantial donations each year to WCKM's Adopt a Child for Christmas, the Marines Toys for Tots program , and this year he's contributed to Operation Santa Clause. Herb has also been the announcer for the Glens Falls Green Jackets team for two seasons and I'm sure many of you have enjoyed his podcasts highlighting and promoting many local small businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs, giving many of us our first taste of an audience beyond family and friends!
