Medical and travel expenses for Jude Samuell

I am Sabine, Jude Samuell’s wife. On Saturday, January 6th, Jude was life flighted to Sacred Hearts hospital in Spokane, Washington due to pneumonia in the right lung from influenza B. 10 minutes before landing, Jude had a pulmonary embolism and had to have CPR performed on him for 6 minutes before they got his pulse back. Since arrival, we have discovered that he has group A strep in his blood, which caused toxic shock syndrome to occur in his body.

He is currently on day 10 in the CICU (Cardiac Intensive Care Unit), and while there have been steps forward, this is going to be a lengthy process and we are looking at months of rehabilitation. Jude was placed on the ECMO machine about 4 days ago, and eventually Jude will have to relearn how to walk, talk, chew, swallow, and breathe on his own. We also don’t really know the extent as to which his lungs have been injured, as they are still too inflamed to tell. Jude will remain in a medically induced coma for the time being, and will be for the next week or two.

We are asking for these funds to help cover any travel expenses (whether that be food, fuel, lodging, etc.) as well as medical cost, as unfortunately western medicine is costly. We thank you all for everything you have done for myself and our family thus far, and I am grateful for all of your remaining support throughout this process. While it being a lengthy process, I have not once felt a lack of support around me. When Jude awakes, I am certain he will just as supported as we have.
