I have created this GoFundMe for the family of Allen Carlyle Jr. who passed away on 11/29/25 after battling health issues for several years.

Allen was a vital part of the Rowan County community. He was constantly looking for ways to help others. Allen started his life of community service at the age of 14 as a Junior Explorer with the local police dept and a Junior Firefighter with Liberty Fire Dept. Allen went on to be a Firefighter, EMT, Rescue Tech, Master Diver, Mason, Shriner and served as Chief of the Rowan Rescue Squad for several years. He was a Battalion Chief for Rowan County Telecommunications.

He loved participating in Toys for Tots, Angel Trees, and Operation Christmas Child. Allen even became a Scout Leader and Cookie Dad for his daughter, Alana’s Girl Scout Troop.

Allen leaves behind many family and friends who are learning to navigate life without him. But, two of the people most precious to him were his daughter and grandson. He was such a proud dad and pawpaw. They meant everything to him and he would have moved mountains for either of them.

His wife, Norma truly needs our community to pull together to help her just as Allen helped so many others throughout his life. Due to his health complications he did not have life insurance so all of the financial burden is now falling on Norma. She has been unable to work since 2017 when he had a stroke and needed her available to be his caregiver. She has a tremendous amount of Allen’s medical debt, credit card debt that was used for medical expense, funeral expenses and normal household expenses that she now needs to be able to cover. She intends to return to work as soon as possible but it could still be a little while. She lost her stepmother in the last month as well so is having to help her elderly father who is in need of significant assistance with daily living.

Let’s all rally together to help Norma! She was always right behind Allen supporting him 100% as he gave his all to the community so let’s show her some appreciation in Allen’s memory.
