My Mission to Haiti
Donation protected
Already one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, Haiti was devastated on January 12, 2010, when a 7.0 magnitude earthquake destroyed the country's infrastructure leaving over 300,000 of its people dead and 1.6 million more homeless.
In October of 2016, Hurricane Matthew further overwhelmed the region with over 3,000 people dead and thousands others displaced. Following the earthquake and hurricane, cholera outbreaks ensued.
Last year, I was blessed with the opportunity to go to Haiti with a group of people from my cousin's church in Rhode Island through the organization Mission of Hope (mohhaiti.org). During that week, we worked as a team on many projects such as construction and tree planting. Along with the physical work, we were afforded time to speak with the people of Haiti, especially the children. When the adults told us they prayed for water, we prayed for water with them. When the children wanted to climb on our backs and have us run around, that's what we did.
This December, I again have the chance to join this group from RI to serve the beautiful people of Haiti. Unfortunately, I can't do it alone this year. I'm humbly asking you to help me on this mission in December. I'm trying to raise enough not only for the trip itself, but to pay the shipment cost for donated clothing and donated medical supplies that I will be bringing with me. Help me help the people of Haiti. Some go by giving. Some give by going.
