Vicki's Fight

Whether you have been personally touched by Vicki's generosity or simply heard about her from a friend, you know that there isn't anyone with a bigger heart than Vicki.  Her personality is larger than life and is always there to offer one of her funny "Vicki-ism's" as I call them, to bring a smile to your face.  It is just in her nature to be the strong one who is always there to help anyone in need.  We are now being given the opportunity to help Vicki.  Vicki was diagnosed with stomach and esophageal cancer in October 2017.  She has been through many rounds of chemo and radiation.  The last round took alot out of her.  Her kidneys began to shut down causing her to become very sick and weak.  As a result, she was in the hospital for over a month.  She was finally able to come home about 2 weeks ago.  She is still very weak but working very hard to regain her strength so she can be ready for the major surgery she needs at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL in the coming months.  She found out yesterday that she needs to be able to walk 2 miles by herself without assistance before she can have surgery.  This will require physical therapy as she is now having to walk using a walker.  As most of you know, Vicki is a CNA with Indian River Estates Assisted Living.  Vicki has been unable to work for the past couple of months due to her illness.  Unfortunately, the medical bills are pouring in.  A Go Fund Me page was set up for Vicki by a friend with a goal of $2500.  I am happy to say that the goal has been surpassed ($3870) because of the wonderful donations that have poured in to help Vicki.  She has been able to pay some of the smaller medical bills as they come in.  Until you start receiving the bills, you have no idea what to expect the medical costs to be.  The treatments, hospitalization and upcoming surgery have proven to be very expensive.  She still needs our help so we have started this  new Go Fund Me page with a goal of $25,000.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all who have already donated the the first Go Fund Me.  Vicki is beyond grateful for your generosity and prayers.  For those who would still like to help, there is still definitely a need.  Any amount will be a tremendous help.  We need Vicki to concentrate on fighting this fight, not stressing about how the bills will get paid.  Please keep Vicki in your prayers.  Can never have too many of those.  I will do my best to keep everyone updated on her progress over the coming months.  Thank you!
