My name is Shabina and I am putting together this GoFundMe Campaign to support an amazing community organizer, and good friend of mine.

At a young age she was subjected to genital cutting and recently found out that Dr. Marci Bowers is offering a surgery that would restore her clitoris and allow her to bear children safely. Dr. Bowers is a trans woman working to support transwomen and people who have gone through genital cuttings by providing low cost gender affirming surgery and clitoral restoration.

This money will used to pay for the flight to the clinic for her and a support person, the surgery, prescription drugs, accommodations while recovering for the surgery, transit and other related costs.

This surgery would mean she would not only be able to give birth safely, but also make a choice over her own body which is something she was never able to do when the cutting happened. 

As a Black Muslim who grew up on a low income this surgery is not something she would be able to afford on her own and any support would mean the world to her.
