Adoption is something we have talked about and prayed about since we were engaged. Around the time our youngest was 9 months old, we starting thinking about growing our family again and God kept putting adoption on our hearts. We continued to pray about it, and God continued to show us that His plan to grow our family was through adoption. So we met with an employee from Gladney Center for Adoption to get some questions answered. We felt so good after leaving the meeting that we decided to attend their orientation. After this, it was so obvious we were on the right path for our family. We started meeting so many people who had adopted through Gladney, been adopted through Gladney, choose to make an adoption plan for their child with Gladney, and even some who worked for Gladney and attended our church. It all just felt right.
However, expenses can be really high. $47,500 to be exact. This was quite alarming for us, but after meeting birth mothers who had been with Gladney, we understood why it was so high. Gladney truly values birth mothers and makes sure all of their needs are met. If a mother does not have a place to live, someone from Gladney helps to find her a safe living situation. If a birth mother does not have any food, someone goes to buy her groceries. They also provide counseling for her prior to the birth and post-adoption counseling/resources for the birth mother, adoptee, and adoptive family for life. Our hope is that we are able to maintain a healthy relationship with the birth mother post-adoption. So it is really important to us that she be respected and cared for appropriately during her pregnancy.
We have already been able to pay 1/3 of this cost through our savings and budgeting. The funds we raise through this platform will go directly to our adoption fees with Gladney Center for Adoption which cover:
-Our profile book to present to expectant mothers
-Matching services
-Expectant mother expenses (medical & dental care, counseling, housing, nutrition, connection to community resources, & legal services)
-Other legal services and fees
-Lifelong post-adoption resources for our family
-Free educational workshops for our family about adoption
