Mayer Unruh NICU Stay

Well in typical Tabitha fashion of doing things unconventionally, we are proud to announce Baby U has made his debut!

Wednesday, I went in to the clinic to get checked up as I was having quite a bit of swelling. Loewen took about 5 minutes before he said yeah, no more school and you are headed to Sioux Falls tomorrow.

So, we headed there, spent the night with the Snows whom we are grateful to take us in, and went in for ultrasound at 8:45am. They determined I needed to be admitted, and by 1:30 they said we are going. Room was full of doctors by 2, got me wheeled away at 2:30, and by 3:03pm we’re parents! The nurses took real good care of him, and me as I came out of the anesthesia, but baby boy needs to be on a CPAP, IV with antibiotics, feeding tube, and monitored 24/7 so he can continue growing and developing those lungs. I was on a magnesium drip for preeclampsia and high blood pressure so that I wouldn’t seize for 24 hours, and have been anxiously awaiting my time to hold my little guy, but all is alright and both baby and momma are good. Daddy Dylan has been nonstop up and down and helping with anything I need (like constant apple juice) and I love him all the more for it.

We appreciate any love and prayers sent our way so far. We even had guests with my mom and dad and Sabrena and even a surprise Dawn Hvam coming to visit yesterday, it’s just been a whirlwind as the doctors call it, and I don’t think we will slow down anytime soon.
