Massimo's Surgery

Hi, my name is Etienne. I am an 18 yr old university student and musician in Brisbane. My 5 1/2 month old (Maremma x Dogue de Bordeaux x Mastiff) puppy is currently severely unwell and is in urgent need of surgery. He has consumed something which is obstructing his small intestine and will need the foreign object and some small intestine removed. This surgery could accumulate to $8000. He is currently being held at the Queensland Veterinary Specialist in wait for surgery. I would never usually ask for help, but I am absolutely devastated about my baby Massimo, and unfortunately this has become a life or death situation. I love my Massimo more than anything and I just want him to live a happy and healthy life.

I am currently working and studying at university and have been able to financially support Massimo, however this has come as quite a shock as it is a very expensive surgery. So I thought I would set up a GoFundMe and at least give it a try. I am not expecting any payments, however would be extremely grateful either way. Any money would go straight to his surgery payment. All I ask would be to share, if possible.

 

I first met Massimo at his first temporary home as I found him through a rescue program on Facebook and was planning on fostering him and his brother. I had been meeting rescue puppies and it was only until I met Massimo that I knew he was the one for me. However, I had a foster failure because I ended up adopting him. In the short time he was my foster baby, he made such an impression on me. I loved him so much I couldn't let him go. Since then, he has completed puppy school and is going to ongoing lessons with the Canine Classroom. He spends almost every day with me, and any day he isn't with me, he is in the safe hands of Barkley Park Daycare. He loves going to cafes, beaches, markets.. the list goes on. He just loves spending time with me, meeting new people and dogs, so I make sure to take him everywhere with me. It has become such a joy to go out with him and see his beautiful eyes exploring the world around him. He has loved making new human and fur friends along the way. He has an older fur brother, Charlie, who he absolutely adores and idolises. Charlie is an 8yr old Rhodesian Ridgeback and is quite large, so Massimo loves being able to play with him. He loves giving his cat siblings a big lick too!

 

More than anything, Massimo loves cuddle time. Massimo still believes he is a tiny lap dog as he will always sit on your lap or lay across you. He has to make sure he is touching you even while he's playing with his toys. He is the most loyal boy, although he loves to go and play with other dogs at Sandgate, most of the time he loves to just walk and splash around by my side. He always gives me gentle nose kisses and will tap my leg when we walk so I know he's there. I love Massimo more than anything. I just want him to be okay.

Right now he is fighting for his life. He has been under the weather for a few days now, not eating, vomiting, very lethargic and seemingly depressed. This breaks my heart for my Massimo because he does not deserve this.

 

I spend every day with Massimo making sure he is safe while having fun exploring the world. I’d really like for him to be able to keep experiencing life. If you would like to keep updated, Massimo has his own instagram account called @massimodiaries where he shows you his day to day life.

 

I would do anything to have my Massimo back with me happy and healthy. I do not expect anything from this but I wanted to at least give it a try, rather than not trying at all. I would really appreciate even just a share.
