In February 2024, 20 classmates and I from Loreto St Stephen's Green will travel to Kolkata, India to visit the Loreto schools in the city of Kolkata.
The broad aim of the programme is to give us students an education and understanding of issues in the developing world in conjunction with some first hand experience of life on the ground. Part of the programme is for each participant to raise a €1,000 donation which goes directly to the Mary Ward Social Centre in Kolkata to fund specific projects to empower the lives of the poor, especially women and children. Loreto sponsors a specific project targeting child labourers with educational, social and legal support.
The money donated here will go directly to the Mary Ward Social Centre.
