Mary Sherdian Tonra Memorial Cycle

Donativo protegido
Mary Sheridan Tonra was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend and nurse who passed away on the 18th of August 2016 after a fifteen-month battle with bowel cancer. Mary had a fighting spirit and always wanted to return the kindness and help given to her and her late mother Bridgie by The Irish Cancer Society, Rock Rose House and Mayo Roscommon Hospice. Mary hoped to work for these charities in a voluntary capacity as a nurse to help others in the way both herself and her mother had been helped. Sadly, this was not to be.  We Mary’s family have organised this cycle to raise much needed funds for such worthwhile charities and to help those who face the same challenges Mary faced in her final months. We also wanted to remember Mary and celebrate the lady we miss so much.

About the cycle:
All cycles depart from The Square, Balla on Saturday the 15th of August at 10am. Cyclists can choose from three great route options. All cyclists will depart together and follow the same route for the first 16k. The routes will offer cyclists an opportunity to take in some of the most beautiful parts of Mayo.

25Km Route:
This route starts at The Square, Balla. Cyclists will head out the Castlebar Road, taking a left and left again to reach the village of Belcarra. They then turn left for the village of Ballyglass. After Ballyglass, the route turns left at the Old Ground pub, and on to Mayo Abbey. Another left will then take them back to the town of Balla. This is a very enjoyable route and all cyclists should find it manageable with the appropriate training.
