Marsha Harris - Mayfield, KT Tornado Relief Fund

On December 10, 2011 an EF3 tornado tore through the town of Mayfield, Kentucky leaving behind a trail of mass destruction. Marsha Harris was fortunate in that her property was not completely destroyed, but was left uninhabitable for the near term. Complicating matters is the fact that Marsha is currently fighting cancer and is undergoing daily radiation treatments which make her quite ill and leave her unable to perform some necessary cleanup / repairs to her property. We need to get her into some temporary housing, buy and install a large generator capable of restoring electricity to her property and make necessary repairs to her water well, which was compromised during the storm. In addition, we will need to hire someone to help clear her property of downed trees and limbs as her health situation leaves her unable to handle the required clean up. Should this fundraiser exceed amounts needed for Marsha, she has selected a family with three children in need of housing and Christmas gifts for the kids to whom she will donate any remaining funds.

 

Donations will be used to provide the following:

1. First and foremost, temporary housing. She is currently undergoing daily cancer treatments which cause her to become ill, making running water and electricity a requirements.

2. Assistance in clearing downed trees and limbs from the property as her health does not allow her to do the cleanup herself

3. Since power will likely be out for a lengthy period of time we need to purchase a large generate to restore electricity to her property

4. Lastly, her well water has been compromised so we will utilize funds to make the necessary repairs for her to have running water. This, along with the generator, will allow her to return home and then deal with the physical repairs necessary to the property as a result of the tornado.
