My name is Susan Cripps, I am a longtime family friend of the Sanford family and I am preparing this go fund me to help support the family of Marjorie Mack Parsons Sanford in covering the costs of funeral and travel expenses after she passed away suddenly and without warning on the morning of December 2, 2023. She had collapsed on Tuesday and was rushed in by ambulance to Kelowna general hospital, only to have them release her a few hours later saying she had a “fainting spell”. She was tired and weak for the remainder of the week, and Friday night went to sleep and passed in her sleep.
Marjorie was an absolute light to all those who knew her, and everyone who knew her was blessed to have her in their lives and to call her a friend. She served faithfully in the LDS church, giving to her community in any way she knew how.
For 15 years there wasn’t a couple who did not have a wedding cake made by Marjorie for their wedding in the Wetaskiwin ward. She was an accomplished seamstress, and she often rendered her services to those in need.
She was kind, gentle and loving and knew how to make everyone around her feel as though they were the most important person to her.
As many of you already know, the Sanford and Parsons family have experienced tragedy after tragedy over the last few years, starting with the death of the youngest Son James, in 2010, and more recently within the last two years the deaths of two more children, Christopher Sanford and Michael Parsons.
In 2019, Christopher went missing in Nakusp and the family would spend every moment available for the next year scouring the wilderness hoping to find him. He was found on October 10, 2020 – Marjorie and Robert’s anniversary. A service was held to bury the remains found, however not all were found and Marjorie would continue to faithfully search until the rest were found, and he was exhumed and repatriated and reburied with the family again in 2021.
Marjorie and Robert took great concern for the care of Chris’ partner Allie as she struggled with his death. They cared for her until in the summer of 2022, after several months of struggling, Allie too passed away.
And in the fall of 2022, another devastating blow, Michael Parsons. Marjorie's oldest Son, would tragically be found passed away at home in Utah. The family again rallied together and made the trek from British Columbia to Utah to be together to say goodbye.
The emotional toll of these losses has been catastrophic for the family, and the financial hardships have been adding up steadily.
Christmas of 2022 was spent dealing with 2 separate bouts of flooding and a close call over Christmas with Robert who spent Christmas and New Years in Royal Columbian with Marjorie sleeping on the floor and in chairs to stay by his side.
Please help rally around this family in their time of need to help them say goodbye to their beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother as they try to navigate the costly expenses of trying to cover funeral expenses and travel during the holiday season.
Thank you. ANY contribution is sincerely appreciated!
