Marina Mlakar
Don protégé
Update from Marina's family:
Hello everyone! (And hello again to anyone who is checking in!)
We decided to update the GoFundMe to better inform everyone and to make sure that everyone involved who has shared and donated can be thanked for all their support!
Marina was a loving mother, a hard worker, and the most dedicated friend a person could ask for. She was the light of a lot of people's lives, and she protected everyone she loved. We are raising funds for Marina Mlakar's final expenses, as well as raising money to try and leave her kids with a good start.
Marina leaves behind her husband, Christopher, her three kids, Alexis, CJ, and Michaela. She also leaves behind her mother, Theofili, her older sister, Aliki, and her older brother, Kosta, along with his kids Stelio and Filitsa.
Originally from Greece, Marina immigrated to the United States with her family when she was only 5 years old, where she attended school and was taught how to speak English. She graduated from J. VM. Wright Tech with a major in hairdressing, which she pursued for a number of years.
After meeting Chris through mutual friends online, she decided to make the move to Las Vegas to be with him. Las Vegas since then has become her second home, and it is the place that her kids would eventually be born.
For the last 22 years, she has been a dedicated worker for Graybar Electric, to which she eventually held the title of Senior Branch Administrator. She has been an integral part of the Graybar team for the California and Southwest District, and has helped them get to where they are today. She worked diligently and efficiently. Those that worked with her knew that she would take a hard line stance. Marina was always willing to fix a problem and she loved her career until the end.
At this time, however, Marina would eventually come to struggle with chronic health issues beginning around the year 2010. These issues would prove to play a hand in her passing, and she fought valiantly to be healthy and happy, along with preparing the kids in the event something happened. Despite this, she continued to be a shoulder to cry on, a person to scream at, and the one to make you smile when it's all over.
Although she was far away from home, Marina was dedicated to her family. Her many aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with her many nieces and nephews, Marina was sure to make them feel special. Growing up, Stelio and Filitsa loved their Thia Marina and all of the cool stuff they did together. But more than anything, Marina understood that found family was everything, and every stray she picked up along the way she loved with her whole heart. Although they could not replace her blood family, she did not love them any differently, and it is with heavy heart that she leaves them behind as well.
As a further update to the previous description, we would like to send a physical card to anyone that would like it. If you could send an email to [adresse e-mail supprimée] with your name, address, and the donation amount (or shared it without donation as well). At this time we are not sure how quickly these will come out, but your love and support means everything to us.
In conclusion, thank you to everyone that has been a friend to Marina, and especially thank you for anyone generous enough to donate, especially in the hard times we are experiencing today. We wish everyone to be safe and well, and we want to say thank you all once again. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
