Many of you may know what Mariano Mendoza has been going through for the past six months. Mariano went to the hospital on January 9th because he struggled with breathing. He had Covid pneumonia. He was admitted on January 11th. He struggled with his breathing until he was intubated on January 18th. He suffered kidney failure on January 19th. He suffered from an infection in his blood and collapsed lungs. He was taken off the intubation, and a ventilator tracheostomy was inserted on February 12th. He remained in the hospital until February 26th and was transferred to a long-term care hospital/facility. He remained in the ICU until May 15th. He continues on the road to recovery.

If he remains in the hospital and does rehab, he may end up in an acute rehab program for some time. They have figured they may need coverage for about 3-6 months, depending on how well Mariano does. We are asking for help at this time because we do not know how long Mariano will be out of work, and we do not know how long I will have to assist him when he gets home. I will not be returning to work full-time. I will be using intermittent FML (Family Medical Leave).

Mariano is progressing, but it will be a slow process for him. We will need to buy equipment, and supplies, continue outpatient rehab and pay for medical insurance. We could run out of insurance coverage depending on how long he stays in his rehab program. That would require us to pay for medical insurance out of pocket, a massive chunk of monthly money.

I have been on intermittent FMLA, which has had a financial impact. I’ve been doing my best to work as much as I can. I understand these are challenging times for everyone right now, but many people have reached out and asked how they can help, and this is what would be most helpful.

If you are not comfortable donating through the GoFundMe you can send money through Venmo (dawnlmendoza1974), Cash App ($dawnleann1974), PayPal or Doordash gift cards.

You can send cards via mail or digitally. Email and address can be provided by contacting me directly.

We are hoping to raise $10,000 but anything will help us.
