Arlene's Memorial Fund

Arlene Arnold and Loreen Major were our next door neighbors for several years. They are both retired school teachers and are some of the nicest, most generous people. They are like family to us. Arlene battled breast cancer a decade ago and was in remission until late 2015 when they found cancer in her bones. Her doctor gave her 2-5 years to live and put her on some very expensive medication to keep the cancer from spreading. The good news is that she is doing well and feeling okay. The bad news is that their medical bills are outrageous and they are struggling to stay afloat. Even with insurance, they are spending over $35,000 a year between their premiums and out of pocket maximum expenses. Despite being a responsible couple who worked their entire lives, they are getting crushed with bills.
More than anything, we want their last few years together to be filled with good memories, not financial stress. We want them to get to their “bucket list” in the short months or years Arlene can still do that. Instead, they are canceling trips and talking about selling their truck and trailer.
Please help to make their last few years together memories Loreen can cherish when Arlene is gone. Thank you so much for your help!
