Make a stand with Leo valiquette
On December 10th around 9:20 AM Leo Valiquette stopped at the Mobil gas station on East main street in Meriden to get air in his tire on his way to get a Christmas tree. As he was doing so a thief decided he deserved leo's truck more than this hard-working tuff as nails man did. What the thief didn’t expect was Leo’s cat like reflexes and his refusal to be a victim. Jumping into the bed of his own truck it sped towards the I91 north on-ramp. The truck and its two passengers only made it to the second curve before it violently went through a guard rail and down an embankment. Leo rode out the crash in the bed of the truck. When the ambulance arrived, Leo was clinging to life and was rushed to Hartford hospital. After several hours, and surgeries the doctors where able to stabilize him. His injuries include but not limited to broken ribs, a punctured lung, fractures in his spine, multiple fractures in his face and jaw, a failing kidney, burst spleen along with multiple lacerations. Through great peril to himself and his family, Leo effectively removed this dangerous car thief from our streets for a long time to come and we thank him for that. Needless to say, Leo can’t work for the foreseeable future. His wife Barbara is also out of work recovering from hip replacement surgery. His truck/baby is a total loss and isn’t covered under insurance. Everyone who knows Leo knows he is 10 ft. tall eats lightning and craps thunder and would never ask anyone for help…so we are asking for him. Leo and his family are facing considerable financial challenges ahead. Please help. Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated.
