Don protégé
Makanda is a bright, spunky, full of spirit, 4th Grader at Ewing Grade School. Makanda is also a twin and has a little sister. She is supported by her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and many more loving relatives and friends.
Makanda was recently diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). Diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas are highly aggressive and difficult to treat brain tumors found at the base of the brain. They are glial tumors, meaning they arise from the brain's glial tissue—tissue made up of cells that help support and protect the brain's neurons.
Makanda will begin radiation followed by chemotherapy soon. She is at St. Louis Children's Hospital which is going to require a lot of travel for the family while trying to continue an as normal life at home for the other two children. The family can use all the help they can get to assist in transportation, meals, medical bills, etc.

I am not only a friend to the family, but Makanda's music teacher at school. Makanda also takes private piano lessons from me - she loves music and Jesus with all of her heart. I pray that this money can assist the family in providing financial relief in whatever way they find necessary.
