Salaam! My name's Mahdia. My laptop is dead and I need your help.
As a freelance writer & educator and a student (studying Communications of Resistance), if I don’t have a laptop my work comes to a standstill. I can’t get back to work until I have some working tech.
2017 was a watershed year for my work. As the Executive Director of Masjid al-Rabia --a women centered, LGBTQ affirming mosque in Chicago--I spearheaded unprecedented programming centering youth and multiple programs supporting incarcerated LGBTQ Muslims . I'm also a prolific community organizer fighting for police accountability in Chicago, a prison abolitionist, a disability justice advocate, and a member of DePaul School for New Learning's Diversity and Social Justice Committee. ALL of my community organizing work I do is on a volunteer basis. I pay my bills by freelancing as a writer and educator. I've done all of this work relying on public library computers, my cell phone and a barely-functional, ancient laptop at home (now deceased).
I need a new computer--one that can handle the audio & video projects I'm developing for my future as a community organizer, a freelance creator, and an educator.
Thanks to friends on the internet, I’ve been led to the device I need to do everything I need—I am seeking a refurbished 2015 Macbook Pro at $1,699. If you know a better choice or a better price please let me know!
