Madeline Goetz Surgery Fund
Donation protected
Madeline is a 20 year old student who needs an experimental bone transplant to repair long term extensive damage to her ankle. Because her insurance considers the surgery experimental they will not pay for it. Madeline injured her ankle about eight years ago falling from a scooter. Her cartilage was shattered and required surgery. Over the last eight years she has had four more surgeries to try and repair the damage. Maddie is a junior in college and has spent all but one month of college in a boot or cast. The last surgery resulted in more damage to her bone and has left her in terrible pain with a fractured ankle with a giant hole at the top of it. We have traveled to specialists across the country for advice on how to proceed, this is an extremely rare injury and very few people have damage this severe. The doctors have come to an agreement that a bone transplant is needed to give Maddie the ability to walk unassisted and without pain. The insurance company has declared that the surgery to heal her would be “experimental” and they will not pay for it. However they give no other options for how to help her. We have been left with no other option but to pay for the surgery ourselves. In order to get her on the transplant list we have to raise $15,000 to be paid as soon as a donor is available. If you are able to help us in anyway we would be most grateful. All proceeds will go to fund Maddie's medical bills.
